ICO to fine Marriott International £99m for 339 Guest Records Breach


The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued a notice that it intends to fine Marriott International £99m in relation to a reservation database incident announced on November 30, 2018.

Marriott has the right to respond before any final determination is made and a fine can be issued by the ICO. The company has said it intends to "vigorously defend its position".

The breach was announced in November 2018 and affected 339 million guest records, including 7 million UK residents.
