Football Association of Ireland (FAI) confirm security breach of payroll systems

FAI staff have been warned in an internal memo that bank account and PPS details could have been accessed during the hacking of the association's email servers.

The FAI have noted that they "found malware on a payroll server" but they have "assured staff, and former staff, today that there is no evidence of any of their data being extracted from the server."

The FAI got in touch with the Irish Office of the Data Protection Commission as soon as the breach was discovered.

More from Irish Independent and The Register.
